Getting Started FAQs

  • Fertility specialists, also known as reproductive endocrinologists, are medical doctors who diagnose, treat, and support individuals and couples facing fertility challenges, employing a range of medical interventions to help them achieve successful pregnancies. After a series of tests to identify the underlying causes of infertility, a fertility specialist will recommend a personalized treatment plan that may include assisted reproductive technologies like in vitro fertilization (IVF).

Fertility specialists help a range of people navigate family-building options, including LGBTQ+ individuals and couples, as well as those seeking fertility preservation services like egg freezing.

  • If you've been trying to conceive for 12 months (or 6 months if you're over 35) without success, it may be time to consider fertility evaluation. However, individual circumstances may warrant earlier consultation. Situations such as known or suspected reproductive disorders like endometriosis or polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), aspiring single parenthood, being in a same-sex partnership, or considering fertility preservation for social or medical reasons may indicate the need for earlier intervention.

Remember that fertility issues can be complex, and seeking early guidance from a fertility specialist can help identify and address potential challenges, increasing the chances of successful conception and pregnancy. Our specialists can offer tailored guidance based on your unique situation and needs.

  • During your two-part consultation at Pacific Fertility Center, you'll be guided by a friendly and experienced New Patient Coordinator. This virtual component allows you to meet with a physician, discuss your personal medical history, ask questions, and possibly gain insight into the range of treatment options available. During the in-person meeting, this conversation will continue, and you may also undergo a transvaginal ultrasound.

  • Start by gathering any relevant medical records, including past fertility tests or treatments, to provide your fertility specialist with a thorough understanding of your medical history. Be ready to discuss your personal and family medical history, lifestyle factors, and current medications or supplements.

Take some time to jot down any questions or concerns you have about fertility treatments, procedures, or the clinic itself to ensure that you address all your queries during your appointment. You may also want to consider bringing a supportive friend or family member with you to the appointment, as discussing fertility issues can be emotionally challenging.

  • Yes, your first appointment will be a virtual consultation, followed by an in-person visit.
